Pinguy OS 12.04 Beta Released

The latest version of the exceptionally popular Linux Distribution, Pinguy OS has been released as a beta for testing. Note: This is a beta release, purely for testing, if you want a stable version of Pinguy OS then you can download the 11.10 version. There is a download link on the Pinguy OS homepage.

For those of you that don’t know, Pinguy OS is a Linux distribution that is based on Ubuntu. It is very much geared towards usability right out of the box. It has a plethora of applications installed by default for just about everything you can think of. Because of the higher amount of applications and addons installed by default, Pinguy OS isn’t really suited for lower spec machines. In my experience though, Pinguy OS is about as system hungry as Window 7, so if you can run that, you’ll be fine. I have used Pinguy OS extensively in the past, I stopped using it on 11.04 because I personally don’t like Gnome 3.

However, Pinguy OS is a fantastic operating system that will just work out of the box for you, it has loads of application installed by default and the best thing of all…yours truly is one of the forum moderators on the Pinguy OS Forums so Pinguy OS user are a lucky bunch. All joking aside though, the Pinguy OS is by far the best Linux community I have ever been a part of, they are a really helpful bunch that are always happy to help.

So if you want a Linux distribution that looks good, works well and needs absolutely no work whatsoever after install I would give Pinguy OS a whirl. There is a 12.04 beta download link and a screenshot of Pinguy OS below.
